well-thought gift

it was my good friend ben's wedding last saturday, and the gift for the guests was... a picnic cloth!

i thought it was the most well-thought and useful wedding gift i have received so far... it was a far cry from the normal chocolate or the candle or the paper weight i have seen in the past, but it is not my intention to undervalue those previous gifts too..

i think as the host of the dinner, the gift for the guest is very important too, and sometimes the owner of the restaurant or the hotel did not plan it well.. so it's really up to the couple to decide whether to find their own gift...

and i liked what was written on the note accompanying the gift:
"this little gift is chosen especially for you to share something close to our heart - picnic. God created earth, people and love for us to dwell in his presence and to marvel at his wonderful creation. a picnic provides an unhurried time with our loved ones to enjoy the beautiful outdoors and to nurture meaningful relationships through the preparation and enjoyment process. may you find joy using this picnic mat while sharing precious moments with your family and friends. God bless and thank you for being part of our joy in celebrating god's love here with us today."
thank you, ben and jeanie!! and hope you have a wonderful marriage.. it is just the beginning!!

been some while since i blogged.. it's my nature to procrastinate.. but, but i am going to be less of a procrastinator this year.. you can say its one of my resolutions..

after watching ip man (not i.p. man, but yip mann as in cantonese), i'm thinking to learn martial arts again, after a long hiatus from capoeira.. i think the show has revived the interest in martials arts again, with more and more people enquiring about the Wing Chun classes conducted in singapore.. it was the same style used by donnie yan in the show..

capoeira is interesting, but the fee was rather high, and you pay ridiculous price for the grading-cum-workshop which take place annually.. maybe it is because capoeira is still in its infancy in singapore, not many instructors are available, so they can afford to charge exorbitant fees for the lessons and uniforms.. i hope with more and more groups starting up here, the fees would reduce eventually.. in economics, the lack of alternatives gives rise to the power to control the price, some sort like a monopoly..

there is going to have a wing chun demostration at the national library next month on the 7th mar, i might make a trip down to have a look.. who knows, i might sign up for a try-out.. check out here..
