shack!!

1st ever training by mestre ousado yesterday.. i have only one word to describe: shack!!
it was the first time that my t-shirt is wet all the way from warming up till the end of the roda..
we started with normal warm up, then the nightmare came it..
we did normal ginga first, then followed by combinations of cartwells, rolling, kicks, negatives and such.. we did this non-stop for about fifteen to twenty minutes!! and we thought he was going to give us break after the last combination, he started showing us the next one! man..
and i have all my respect to this 50-year-old mestre of ours.. respect man..
half a century old, yet still energetic and enthusiastic..
jumping around, relentlessly pushing us to ginga faster and faster, shouting out his commands and orders when he saw that we were slacking down, or not doing the combinations immediately after his explanations..
some of them are quite new and interesting i would say, that even so of my seniors had some difficulty executing it..
but then again, i would say that it's because it required some flexibility and that most of us had not been consistent in stretching regularly. for me, i stretch regularly, especially after wednesdays' training with kai zhao of nus..
back to the training, we had only a 5-minute drinking break and he would get us back into training after 3 minutes! and we started doing some practice with a partner..
and after that, roda!!
although he is still recovering from a surgery, he still joined in the roda, and kicked all our arses! up, down, left and right..
it was also the first time to see the roda smeared with so much, no, not blood, but sweat.. all our sweat..
silvano, our instructor when mestre went back to brazil, even slipped twice on it.. haha..
after that, he gave us teaching, on our movements and insight on capoeira culture..
he likes to talk, although sometimes i couldn't figure out his english at all, oh well, at least i got the general idea..
now, i'm only looking forward to his training this coming wednesday.. salve!!

tiring weekend

well, a well-deserved long weekeng, but i hardly get any rest though.. haha

saturday: one of my friends from polytechnic got married, so there i were at their solmenization at amara hotel's skygarden.. the bride looked so pretty..

this taken while they rose a toast for a blissful marriage, i wonder if it's just a oriental ritual, or does people do it in other countries?

the gang after the wedding buffet lunch, looking rather bloated.. haha.. the food was rather nice, especially the chocolate cake.. mmm... it just melt once it entered your mouth..

sunday: big walk 2005!
annual 10-km walk that me and my friends take part.. no exception for this year, just that the strength is muchly reduced.. those who needed to work that day, whose pregnant, and those who couldn't even wake up! haha.. just joking..

the plane cut the morning sky with a trail of exhaust, aboard by some much hopes and expectations upon arrival of a unknown destination..

hardly do we have the chance to walk in the middle of the road, with the police controlling the traffic for us! haha..

guess which 2 celebrities we met at the big walk?

why, if it wasn't mister spiderman and batman themselves? so kind of them to grace this humble event..
but never knew that they are vegetarians? no wonder vegetarians are often seen as 'superhumans'.. haha

a small treat for use after such a torturous hardwork.. while more food awaits us for lunch..

monday: finally a day for me to rest, but it was taken up by tidying my study table and room, which had been a pig sty for the past few weeeks..

final year project finally

finally, the result of the final year project allocation is out..
i'm going to be a director-cum-producer-cum-editor-cum-artist-cum-animator..

haha, in short: "bao ga liao", or one-man-show..
i was quite lucky to have gotten my first choice..
when i saw the result, my mind was like starting to think of all the things that i want to put in my projects, the characters, the settings, the scenes..
so many ideas started pouring into my brain, which is partly due to the countless commercials and teasers of movies and games, that i was kind of lost in indulgence..

but then something struck me: i know nuts about animation!!
i have just started to learn maya, man, just the modelling of static objects!
i'm nowhere near modelling organic objects, not to say animating and creating dynamics for them.. haha..

so after a week busying with report writing, i finally can get back to learning my maya.. but it's so hard to give up daechanggeum!! the story is getting more and more interesting now! argh, the lead actress has just being kicked out of the palace for some serious crimes she had committed..

oh well, "sweetness comes after hard labour"..

time

busy busy busy..
somehow time passed so fast without knowing it..
i sometime wonder where did all my time go..
was it stolen from me, or i lost it someplace far and unknown..

i wonder why we used to have so much time to spare when we were younger?
is there a bizarre relation between the speed of time and our age?
i strongly suspect that the speed of time is inversely proportional to our age..
which is very scary..!!

there used to be so much time that i could just laze around and time seemed to be freeze or moved like a snail..
now, i hardly find time for anything, and it seemed to flash like lightning..
if there's a time you can travel back to, when would you like to go?

my first step towards an aspiring 3d graphics designer.. its a simple scene of a boat travelling through the archipelago.. took me about 2 nights to figure how to make the water ripple and the sculpt the islands out, and make that simple-looking boat!! the book is quite clear, but sometimes needs a bit of thinking and figuring out, but it's quite a thorough book.. by the way, i'm using maya unlimited 6.5, although the book i'm using is maya 4.5 fundamentals, all the procedures are roughly the same, just that maya 6.5 has got more options and features.. well, by now, i'm thinking how to create things i come across in maya.. man.. think i'm getting the maya syndrome.. a+ Posted by Hello

joyous day

yes indeed, it is a joyous day for me..
it may seem quite exagerating but oh well..

i finally got my hands on the korean serial: 大长今(dachanggeum)..
and the best part? i don't have to spend a single cent..
yes, i stole it.. i'm a natural born thief..
no.. i'm just pulling your leg, well in fact i borrowed it from my uncle..
his wife is a major fan of korean serials that they have a shelf full of them..
it was all the better because i had planned to buy it tomorrow when i go malaysia..
what can i say? heaven has been very kind to me.. very..

so pardon me if i start to blog less than before.. you'll know what i'm doing..

for the uninitiated, dachanggeum or jewel in the palace, is about the true story of the first female imperial doctor in the korean dynasty history, how she went in the palace as a kitchen helper who had worked herself up the ladder to be the head chef, or something like that, but was chased out of the palace by conspiracies, and fought back into the palace by studying medicine.. and you figure the rest..

i got interested in korean history and culture after having some good friends from korea and had searched the web for some good movies and serials to watch, and i happened upon this serial..
i found it very intriguing, due to my interest in history, how ironic when i had fared so badly during history when i was in secondary school.. haha
and so i started searching for it, well, more from my friends so i can borrow rather than to buy it.. and for 2 months i had no success until my mom went to my uncle's place this afternoon, and the rest is history..

so, no time to waste now.. let the show begin!..
