even without the arrival of chinese new year, i've started feasting on the only thing which i think symbolizes it, standing out from the rest of the festive treats: the pineapple tarts..

ever since years ago that my mom started buying these duck-shaped pineapple tarts, i started to change my appreciation of it.. the ready-made flower-shaped tarts with fillings in the center that we buy from the shops often come with the fillings which are rather hard and too sweet..
but the home-made duck-shaped ones from my mom's friend is truly heavenly.. the crust melts in your mouth, fillings are not too sweet and very soft, which fits my taste..

been feasting on a tub of them when my colleague brought it into the office on monday, and now it's empty.. the one i brought in on tuesday has only 1 of its 5 layers remaining.. that's about 12 tarts per layer! well, not all by me, but mostly those from my colleague's..

i wonder what's the relation between the pineapple tarts and chinese new year, since most are sold by the malays.. like the duck-shaped tarts that my mom bought.. or just because it's nice to eat during cny?? i wonder.. oh well, i shall investigate it as i munch on them, perhaps inspiration will come to me as they digest happily in my stomach..
